## What is Watt Hour?

The watt-hour (Wh) is a unit of energy equivalent to one watt of power expended for one hour of time. It is not a standard unit in any formal system, but it is commonly used in electrical applications. An energy expenditure of 1 Wh represents 3,600 joules or 3.600 x 103 J. ## How do you calculate watt-hour?

To calculate watt-hours, you can use the formula Watts x Hours = Wh. For example, if you have 100 watts running over four hours, that equals 400 WHs (100 x 400). To estimate an electrical device energy usage, you can multiply the deviceâ€™s wattage by the number of hours it is used.

## Battery terminology

**Battery Voltage**: 12V, 24V, 36V 48V are the most common. They’re all battery cells multiples of 12 Volt.

**Battery Capacity**: Rated by AH or mah, Amp hours (Ah) is a unit of electrical charge that is commonly used to measure the capacity of a battery. It is a measure of the amount of electrical charge that can be stored in a battery and is calculated by multiplying the current (in amperes) by the time (in hours) that the battery can supply that current. In other words, it is a measure of how long a battery can supply a certain amount of current before it needs to be recharged.

**Battery Amps**: The ampere rating (or amp rating) of a battery basically tells you its storage capacity1. It is a measure of the amount of electrical charge that a battery can deliver in an hour.
