This product makes it easy to change the settings and allows for easy connection with large gauge wires. Its operation better than a few others that I’ve bought. The heat sink helps to keep it operating in the hot attic.

The controller is large enough to charge a small bank of batteries. It gives a lot of information on the charge state of batteries and rate of charge. Instructions were not easy to use, but easy to set up.

the temperature probe socket had sunk down into the body of the controler and was distorted so that the probe was inoperative = no temperature output data – returned it

So far it seems to do with a solar charge controller does for the most part as in charge the batteries and also provides an additional load port for solar cables or to connect something directly. Unfortunately I’m not sure if it’s reading my battery Bank correctly as it’s supposed to be able to tell me the charge amount of my batteries and basically the best thing I’ve been able to go off of is the voltage. The thing that is strange is when the Sun goes down the voltage from the solar panels goes down as well of course, but then the voltage level in the batteries goes down as well as in its reading the voltage that the batteries possess incorrectly. I for some reason always seem to have around 70% battery capacity When the Sun Goes Down, but it could also be a battery issue I can’t be certain.

The unit works – kinda-sorta- and it does have nice big lugs for connecting wiring. However I do wish they would list a supplier for the temperature probe cable or connectors so the probe can be placed down in the battery storage where it’s supposed to monitor the battery temp. I also can Find NO information on what it means when on the screen the battery outline starts blinking it’s not mentioned in the supplied pamphlet. Additionally with 4 100w 12v DC panels and running a H2O Pump DC motor that draws (per the amp meter) 10 amps from the panels then the motor is howling and the howl wavers up and down in frequency while the controller screen indicates switching in and out of charging the battery. This pump motor is not going to holdup to this constant day time over voltage. Why is the load output voltage not regulated at 12.5v DC or a settable max like the battery charge voltage??

Great item with no issues. Running for about 5 months now with 40 amps input and ambient temps to 110 degrees in an off grid setup.. Supplying 5, 200 amp Gel call battery’s.Maybe I need to order a spare someday!

Love this, works well, even got a 2nd one for a separate system which works just as well. Currently handles 800 watt solar with7000W inverter, 12V system, running all day. Easy set up, digital readout is a little difficult for us older people to read, otherwise, superior devise for a small cost.

I’ve been through a few of these The negative terminal always gets the damage from lack of space for wires along with for some reason the negative terminal on every charge controller is always the failing point . Author of Solar Independent Utility Systems ManualAvb on Amazon also…

Works great even in higher heat environments like a metal work van. Currently running 3x100watt panels into a 4800whr gel battery bank. It doesn’t even heat up at all and am going to hook up 3 more panels shortly with full confidence and eventually I’ll have 9x100watts in parallel. Sometimes the van sits charging all day with no ac and get’s near 120 degree ambient temps with no issues. I was skeptical at first because of the cost but am so happy I went with zhc because it’s a great little charge controller. Big wire terminals work with my 4 gauge wire, usb plugs in directly to charge my phone. The only downside is the temp probe isn’t really a probe and more of a nub so you just get ambient and not the battery temps. The instructions are translated from what I imagine was chinese so it doesn’t read correctly but everything is very intuitive and if you have 1/4 of a brain you should be able to figure it out. Very satisfied, if you are mulling it over you should just pull the trigger.

I will come back to write a more detailed description, though the first thing I noticed was a rattling from inside the compartment. The Rattling was a loose plastic button, after fiddling with the button the noise went away. I’ve heard good things about this controller, it feels much sturdier than other charge controllers. I’m impressed so far, will be hooking up soon.

We built a tiny house to live in off grid. The biggest source of electricity is our fridge. I bought this charge controller, 4 -12 volt batteries and 100 watt solar panel. Everything is working fine so far. I must say the directions are CRAP! Luckily between my husband and I got it figured out in about 10 minutes.
Jovenel Belmeus –
It’s very important the way you treat your costomer, so thanks for your understanding. And I m Happy

We bought one for a cabin on our off-grid property and liked it so much that we bought another for our second small cabin! Easy to read display tells us exactly how much solar power is left in our storage battery.

I’ve been using this charge controller for around 2 years, and now I notice that it always says that it’s recieving power from the solar panels, even when they’re disconnected. Also, my system shut down the other day because it was overcharging. I would recommend that you spend a little more money than this. I got it in a pinch, and now I’m going to be buying a more expensive one.

I would give 5 stars except that the instructions with the item are vague. Note to other’s must have battery to engage the controller, so don’t freak out when you connect your PV and it doesn’t turn on, it will after you connect battery.

Will not except 100 amp rated cables so it says it is 80 amp , had to modifie lead ends to use this. with brass home made ends 4 gauge wire is minium size for 100 amp batteries. Gap for inserts must be for 16 or 14 gauge wire leads . Zhc solar said to keep the product and they would refund my money and work with their engineers to make lead gaps wider and update lead gap dimensions in description of item . I guess i can not give zhc solar a one star now ,they are doing what is right l hope so i am upstaring to three stars for product because of their response. Five starcustomer service maybe. Time will tell!

Pretty straight forward device. Hadn’t had it long. Will update if problems arise. Just make sure you don’t accidentally throw out the thermal sensor that just looks like the end of a power plug. It’s easy to discard if you don’t realize it’s in the box. It does makes installing the remote super simple.
