Solar Panel Controller Price Comparison and why chose this controller
Usually, a 60 amp MPPT charge controller is very expensive on the market, when chose a 60a MPPT controller, stability is the aspect first to consider because there are many fake MPPT controllers on the market.
Good quality is pretty important, in our experience, the most welcomed 60 amp controller with safety and reasonable price is renogy and zhcsolar’s controller. But a Renogy 60 Amp Commander MPPT Solar Charge Controller charged for $499, comparing to the abilities and price, The best choice is to take this controller.

4 Charge Stage of this Solar Panel Charge Controller
Bulk Charge Stage
In the bulk charge stage, the battery is not at 100% stage of charge and battery voltage has not yet charged to the absorption voltage set-point. The controller will deliver 100% of available solar power to recharge the battery. The green LED will blink once 0.5 seconds during bulk charging.
Absorption Stage
When the battery has recharged to the absorption voltage set-point, constant-voltage regulation is used to maintain battery voltage at the absorption set-point, This prevents heating and excessive battery gassing. The battery is allowed to come to a full state of charge at the absorption voltage set-point. The Green LED will blink once per two seconds during absorption charging.
Float Stage
After the battery is fully charged in the absorption stage, The MPPT controller reduces the battery voltage to the Float voltage set-point, When the battery is fully recharged, there can be no more chemical reactions and all the charging current is turned into heat and gassing. The float stage provides a very low rate of maintenance charging while reducing the heating and gassing of a fully charged battery. The purpose of the float is to protect the battery from long-term over-charge. The green LED will keep green during float charging.
Equalize Stage
Equalize charging will start working in a period of 30 days. It will charge in a higher voltage to activate the battery activity, usually 30 mins, depending on different battery types. Equalize charge will longer battery lifetime.
User’s Guide & PC Software Download

No buttons work seems like maybe it doesn’t work too but no buttons work
Dan Schellenberg –
It’s seems to be working okay–the batteries (48 v) stay charged, so for the money it’s a good deal.
David Putnam –
It looks great. I took it to the cabin today and going to install it tomorrow. I will update after put to use.
Solarita –
The unit is easy to program, good quality. And so far is doing good!

Hey David Putnam, Bob Bowen here from Anthonies Harbourside. How’s it hanging?
Off-grid –
Thought it was DOA when it wouldn’t turn on. Was unable to email tech support.Since the previous controller failed my batteries went down to 10 volts, not enough to turn it on. Tried another battery and it worked fine. It’s ok if you just need to monitor solar input.

I’m on my second charge converter, the first one I ordered the LCD screen stopped working, zhcsolar was great and sent me a replacement. Wouldn’t you know the same issue with the replacement. Time to move on to better product.

First!!Ok. I have more good to say about this unit than bad. Its very easy to hook up and set up the basic parameters. The construction is stout! Built like a mini tank. Easy cable hook ups. Very strait forward. The only reason I didn’t give a 5 star rating was the lack of a computer cable. Why advertise the feature and not supply the cable to access the full functions of the system…..Also there is no web address or phone number to the company. I did find an e mail address on the company site after a Google search to find it. I hope I never need them. This controller is handling my 560 watt system flawlessly. I’ll be taking her to 840 watts. The unit is marked 100 watts higher than the advertised 800 watts. I will be buying two more for my 2200 watt off grid home system in the near future. At 24 volts its rated to 1400 watts.Update two months in.System us working well. Manages the PV array very well. I am easy on my batteries and never let them get below 11.8 volts. The system is moving from bulk mode into float mode as it should and toping off the batteries by noon on sunny days. I’m still satisfied with the purchase.About 10 months in? Charge controller is still plugging away!! Zero issues. I’m buying a second unit to complete my 24v 2300 watt system. Still pleased with the purchase.

I asked about the RS-422 protocol. The seller unfortunately has no information. There is a connector, but there doesn’t seem to be any supported means of remote-monitoring this device. I returned it.Also, it’s positive ground. This is for a remote radio site, and the radios are negative ground and the antenna shield connections are also grounded. That would also be a problem, as I’d have to isolate the solar panel mountings from ground. So, I returned this unit and bought a more expensive Epever which had negative ground and a documented RS-422 communication protocol.

It charges well but information is on a small screen hard to read. A little bigger screen with bright letters would make this charge controller much better.

Have had no issues. Bought a second one just incase, haven’t needed it.Running 90 volts 1600 watts, 600 ah@ 24 vdc batteries.

Nice charge Controller, accepts 10 gauge DC wire just fine. No options really, no History, NO LOAD Output !!! You can change date and time, battery type, dont think you can change C to F in temperature. Very cheap feeling hanging brackets. only mount hangs from brackets at top. Over all case feels nice and sturdy. LCD Lights Bright and Clear. But unclear of what software too use for more features like settings and history, or what remote meters could be setup with it. It says it uses rs-485 , and Modbus Protocol.Finding these options would be nice. Also no phone number or website to visit to answer these questions.

The manual with it is smaller than I expected, yet adequate for the controller. Following the manufacturers instructions it was quite easy to do the initial set up. The flexibility is what led me to purchase this controller. Introduce it to your batteries first whether the voltage is 12, 24, or even 48 volts it does the work for you. Just following the screens questions makes the rest easy. With batteries I use in my motor home the controller charges at a rate that’s easier on your batteries.

Works great! An the only things I can say bad is the model in the manual doesn’t match the model you receive and this model doesn’t have excess ports, even tho the manual said it should have. It works tho!!
